When you first walk into any kind of casino, you have to consider your odds. Sometimes you’ll win and sometimes you won’t. But one way to keep the stakes as much on your side as possible is to stay at home and do your gaming. After all, it’s a guaranteed loss when you have to pay a lot of money for a plane ticket and a hotel stay.

One of the best things about the Bet 365 Casino is that you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home to place your bets. After all, some things come down to luck and some things don’t. If you have a bad night, that’s just a part of the game. It’s important to learn to walk away when things aren’t going your way. Budget an amount to gamble for that visit and stick to your budget. You could win big on your next visit.

The best thing about online casinos is the power you have to raise your stakes. One of the best ways to do that is to follow the video poker rule of always betting the most coins you can. While you’ll burn your bankroll a good deal faster, your wins will obliterate your losses if you can hold on long enough. Another way you can succeed in raising your stakes is by playing machines with larger denominations. For example, you can increase your potential winnings by playing on a dollar machine versus just playing the nickel or quarter machines. When you want to win, it’s time to raise the stakes.

College is expensive. There’s no way around it. But you have your one saving grace (besides the checkbook belonging to your parents) and that would be loans. Yes, loans, hallelujah! But, guess what…. There’s something even better out there to help you with your room and board (and your pizza, lava lamps, and flip-flops).

They’re called grants.

Let’s make one thing clear about why these are even better than loans. Financial aid is a funny thing. You see, they believe that if you accept money as a ‘loan,’ that you must actually pay it all back later! Sounds funny, right? Well, that’s the way loans work. While it might be awesome to get a grand or two in the mail and use it for your tuition and other ‘good stuff,’ the ultimate price you have to pay is, well, to pay it back!

Grants are different. Why? Simply put: you don’t have to pay them back. Seriously, you don’t. That’s why they call them ‘grants.’ Like granting wishes.

Typically, grants come in the form of organizations designed to help students find the funding they need for college without having to worry about debt. It’s a form of gifting. Typically, our government handles a grant or two, and it helps pay for some money. Other non-profits, though, can offer more grants — sometimes for more money.

And the best part of all of that — you don’t have to pay back a single cent. Consider grants a gift, plain and simple.

Trust that it makes a world of difference when you end up finishing college and have to spend a couple decades paying off the whole $30,000 loan you owe in tuition costs! Shudder at the thought….

Most people try out gambling at some point in their lives; however, most people can keep it to the occasional night out. When it escalates past that, it can turn into gambling addiction. Unfortunately, gambling addiction can ruin lives; it is financially destructive and it can ruin families.

Part of the damage of gambling addiction comes from the odds that come with gambling. Casino games are set up to favor the dealer; otherwise, casinos wouldn’t be able to make any money! People who put hundreds and even thousands of dollars into casino games are likely to lose all of that money.

To properly overcome gambling addiction, gamblers have to realize that it is a serious addiction. Many people think that it is not “real” addiction like drugs or alcohol, so they think that they can overcome it with sheer willpower. However, gambling releases chemicals in the brain that trigger happy, calm feelings.

To beat gambling addiction, there must be a complete cessation of gambling. Like an alcoholic who thinks they can have “just one drink”, too many gambling addicts think that they can spend just $10 and get their fix. However, doing just one casino game can trigger that desire to gamble and make it impossible for an addict to stop.

It is also important for gambling addicts to seek therapy. There are counselors who specialize in addiction, and they can work with gambling addicts to find other ways of achieving happiness. By replacing that happiness that they get from gambling, addicts can learn to stop needing their gambling fix.

Gambling is a popular pastime for many Americans. It seems harmless enough; after all, you are in control of your own money and have pretty good odds of winning big. However, truth be told, very few people win big. In fact more people lose big rather than win anything, yet continue to raise the stakes until all is lost.

Great gamblers might say that knowing “when to fold em” is one of the best skills to have. Knowing when to walk away is the difference between someone having fun and someone who has a problem. If you are new to gambling here are a few ways to keep yourself from going too far.

Keep it honest: Have someone who keeps you accountable. This could be a family member, spouse or friend. Tell them when you go gambling, where, what you played, how much you won and how much you lost. This simple step can help tether a new player to reality.

Set financial limits: Make a deal with yourself and your accountability partner to keep a certain amount of cash on hand and when it runs out to walk away. If you realize that you have a problem, get help immediately. Use online directories such as canada 411 to find help for addiction.

Establish personal boundaries: Are their unacceptable times for you to gamble? Are there friends that cause you to spend too much or stay too late at the tables? What games do you lose the most money in? Create your own rules for gambling. Realizing that the stakes in life are too high (family, finances, emotional health) may be the key to escaping gambling addiction.

Online casinos are nice, especially when used in the comfort of your own home. When you don’t live near a casino, sometimes online casinos are the only option you have. It can be difficult, though, to determine which ones are legitimate and which ones are scams. Here are a few tips to determine if the site is legitimate or not.

Look at the payment options. Determining the payment options can help protect your identity. When deciding on a casino site to use, you should use ones that don’t put you at risk of identity theft. Look for an online casino that uses PayPal rather than credit cards so that your identity is kept safe.

If you’re unsure about an online casino’s legitimacy, search the Internet for reviews on that particular sites. Don’t only look for good reviews, but look for bad ones too. Scams will generally only have good reviews to attract customers, but they can be tricky. Don’t use a casino that makes you feel suspicious.

Do not use an online casino that guarantees winnings. Casinos are all about gambling, and you can’t ever be promised winnings when you gamble. Unless the games are just for fun and don’t deal with real money, this will never be a legitimate site.

It can be difficult to tell which sites are for real and which ones are just trying to take your money. Do a lot of research before you begin using the site so you are sure that it isn’t a scam. Go with your gut instinct; if the site feels like a scam, it probably is.

Gambling comes in numerous forms—betting on sports, poker, or even making a wager with a friend over something trivial. It is a popular form of entertainment that has been around for thousands of years. However, due to changes in lawmaking and the expansion of gambling’s prosperous industry, it has become more widely available. As a result, addiction to it has synchronously been on the rise, particularly in the realm of online gambling.
Whereas gambling was once limited to on-site games, it has taken advantage of technology’s ascendancy, allowing people to gamble online anywhere and at any time. Like many other computer addictions, online gamblers do not realize just how much time they are spending gambling, and the fact that they are using their credit card rather than cash makes it easier to overspend.
Research has shown that although addiction to gambling is widespread and occurs often in casinos, the fact that casinos typically take physical cash makes it easier for gamblers to track the amount of money that they are losing. However, those that gamble over the internet use their credit card information and because most websites only ask that they information be submitted once, they lose track of their wagers and don’t experience the sensation of handing over something tangible.
To counter the rise in gambling addiction, particularly on the internet, new help groups are emerging constantly, the majority of them regulated under The National Council on Problem Gambling, including Gamblers Anonymous, nationwide Gambling Clinics, and innumerable websites.

There are addictions and then there are social addictions. These are habits that may start out relatively harmless, but gradually take on addictive proportions. One such habit is gambling. The symptoms and effects of gambling often snowball and tend to be catastrophic.

When people enter a casino for the first time, the feeling is often one of being overwhelmed. The thought that a single roll of a die can turn you into a millionaire overnight can be exhilarating. That is why there are people who spend thousands of dollars playing slot machines and gambling in the hope of hitting it big time.

There are symptoms to look out for in gambling. Often the thought of not playing can lead to temper tantrums, nervousness and panic attacks. Once you gamble, you feel a sense of relief, but then are unable to pull yourself away. Sadly, gambling is an addiction that can take its toll on several aspects of your life from your family life to your social life to your financial situation as well as your professional standing.

Fighting the gambling urge is not that easy and often people seek counseling to be able to rid themselves of the trouble. Being able to recognize that you have a problem to begin with is the key here. Once you do that, you should try to divert your attention to habits or activities that are less threatening. Enlisting the help of family members whom you can turn to when the urge hits also helps. You can call on them at any point and they will know to talk you out of the situation.

There are a lot of different ways you can win at home. You can play the lottery. You can do online surveys and see if you can earn some cash and prizes that way. You can even go to an online casino and see if you can hit the jackpot there. While there are no guarantees in life, at the very least you will not be spending any money on gas, which is a win as far as most people are concerned.

One of the best parts of the online gaming experience is that online casinos will frequently provide online casino bonuses to you. Through these bonuses, you can get a lot more money than you could simply by betting your own bankroll. While you can always win a lot by putting in the minimum amount possible, why would you want to settle for just the minimum? That would be like only growing to be three feet tall because it’s just easier to buy from the children’s section.

When you get into an online casino, scope out the types of bonuses they offer and what you have to do to actually be able to withdraw them. In a lot of cases, you have to play a lot of money to be able to get them out. But that’s fine, because the worst case scenario is losing some money you didn’t have in the first place. As losses go, that one isn’t so bad. You should also keep in mind how much you are willing to invest of your own money, because putting in more of your dough can often mean an even bigger bonus.

Count on cable TV, with lots of movies available, as well as a hotel channel dedicated to helping guests learn the casino games.

If you’ve brought the old ball and chain (that would be your laptop computer, of course), you’ll have access to the hotel’s wireless network. Work for a while and catch a nap. When you wake up hungry, you have a couple of choices. You think about going downstairs to get something to eat and then realize it’s 3:00 a.m. Wow – long nap. You could call room service – they deliver around the clock. For that matter, there will be at least one restaurant with a full menu, open and conveniently adjacent to the casino. You decide it’s time to leave your room and look around.

You are amazed at the number of people you find in the restaurant and casino in the middle of the night. Don’t be. Nobody cares what time it is. It’s a fact that there are no clocks in casinos. After a nice meal, you can explore the casino, and perhaps play a couple of hands of blackjack. If you win, you may play a few more hands.

It’s nearly daylight when you finally return to your room. Don’t worry. Your window coverings have heavy lining to shut out all light – until you’re ready to wake up and begin again.

The buses pull up to the casino doors and they pour out, rushing to the slot machines. Casinos have discovered senior citizens and have started to cater to them.

Seniors have time and money, and are looking for affordable entertainment. Casinos near retirement areas and RV parks filled with winter visitors encourage seniors to spend a day with friends playing the slots, bingo, or other games. Many casinos provide free buses so seniors don’t even have to drive to gamble.

Some people may worry that seniors are being targeted by casinos and may be gambling away their social security checks. However, that seems not to be the case. In recent surveys, only three percent of seniors have reported they gamble alone. Most go with family and friends – and most (69%) place a limit on the money they can wager. Most of the seniors surveyed (90%) expressed their ability to make their own decisions. Suggestions that there should be rules limiting senior gambling for their own protection were soundly rejected in the survey.

Reasonably priced restaurant meals, entertainment focused on “oldies” music, and entertainers, and around the clock excitement are big draws for seniors. Playing the slots requires no skills and is not physically demanding, but is still fun.

Some seniors may gamble too much, and addiction does happen in every age group. The loss of a spouse, depression, and loneliness can contribute to dangerous gambling behavior.

Critics worry that major losses can harm seniors financially, but most older people seem to be able to control their own spending. Given the aging population of the United States, casinos will continue to be favorite destinations for seniors for fun and excitement for many years.

Sharon is a 64-year-old suburban homemaker in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born and raised in Omaha and raised her three grown children there. She loves to travel, and makes five or six trips to Las Vegas in any given year. She usually takes her 30-year-old daughter with her, under the pretext of spending quality mother-daughter time.

When Sharon is in a casino, money flows from unknown sources. She takes along as much cash as she can quietly gather. She has several credit cards with cash advances available. She will never admit to losing money, although money always seems to be tight. She will sit at a poker or blackjack table well into the wee hours. When she leaves the hotel during the day, she shops for designer fashions.

Sharon has a place to get her gambling fix when she can’t get to Las Vegas. Omaha sits on the border between Nebraska and Iowa, which are separated by the Missouri River. There are two large Riverboat Casinos docked on the Iowa side. She picks up Interstate 480 near her house and is across the river in less than 20 minutes. She sometimes takes a friend, but is comfortable making the trip alone so she can gamble as long as she pleases.

Her adult children and her husband have known for many years that Sharon has a gambling problem. None of them has had the nerve to confront her, or even broach the subject. Sharon, a strong personality from the get-go, would not react rationally if approached on the subject. Her gambling game would go on indefinitely, except that Sharon developed a serious chronic illness. She can no longer travel or drive herself. Gamblers Anonymous would have been the kinder cure.

Indian casinos have changed life for Native Americans more than any other development since the establishment of reservations in the 19th Century. Twenty-eight states now have Indian gaming.

Historically, tribes were placed on the most remote, unproductive land available for their reservations. There were few job opportunities and most families farmed or ranched on marginal land and relied heavily on government subsidies.

In 1979, the Florida Seminole tribe opened a high-states bingo facility on their reservation. The State immediately moved to close the operation and the tribe took the State all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. In The Seminole Tribe of Florida v. Butterworth, the Court ruled that the federally recognized tribe, considered a sovereign nation within the United States, had a right to operate the bingo hall.

There are now over four hundred casinos run by 233 tribes. Twenty-four states allow all gaming; four allow only bingo. The important news is that Indian casinos earned over $ 26.5 billion a year. This money has allowed tribes to establish scholarships, build roads, install electricity and provide safe water for tribal members. Tribes pay local, state and federal taxes on profits – over $10 billion in taxes in 2008 alone.

Casinos are often the largest employer on a reservation. They have allowed tribal members to receive training and the opportunity to earn a living for their families. Many of the tribes started their casinos under professional management and have gradually moved tribal members into leadership positions.

Indian gaming has allowed some of the poorest tribes in America to bring their members from poverty to employment. Tribal members have benefited by employment, education, and improved housing. Many tribes are able to provide for their elderly and children for the first time. And some of the tribes have used casino profits to preserve their language and culture for future generations.

The majority of people think casinos are just for gambling. While that’s at the heart of the concept, most casinos offer many types of entertainment. In fact, just walking through the door gets the adrenalin pumping, one way, or another.

Visitors are immediately bombarded with sights and sounds — bright, flashy lights and a cacophony of loud noises. Various sounds, most of them loud, come from so many directions it’s hard to determine the source.

Most of the bells, cheerful ditties, and “hurrah” sounds are coming from the slot machines. They make exciting noises on even the smallest wins and there’s a good reason for that. Casino operators want to make sure that everyone within earshot knows there is money being won. If a would-be gambler sees and hears a jackpot being paid out, it’s a strong motivation to sit down and play a few quarters. Since there is no particular skill involved in playing slots, anyone of legal age to gamble has the same chance of winning as die hard, habitual player. Some people do win money playing the slot machines – sometimes.

Casinos generally offer free or low cost beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. In fact, casinos strive to make patrons as contented as possible so they will be in no hurry to leave. Even smokers are welcome to puff away when they gamble, as casinos in most states are exempt from laws that ban indoor smoking. A riverboat casino in Illinois tried to enforce the smoking ban, and suffered the lowest revenue in a decade. Non-smokers who are sensitive – or allergic – to smoke will find smoke-free gaming areas in larger casinos.

Most gambling establishments have excellent restaurants with reasonable prices. Patrons are welcome to relax and enjoy the restaurants with no obligation gamble. Once you’re in the casino, you might as well play a bit. At the end of the day, there’s only one big winner – the house.

Jerry King has a secret. He goes to lunch and doesn’t go back to the office. He tells his boss he is meeting clients, but he is really at a casino. He may be at a blackjack table, playing poker, or in the Sportsbook lounge betting on college or professional sports. His family doesn’t know he has emptied the kids’ college accounts and has borrowed money. Jerry is a compulsive gambler.

Most people can gamble without becoming addicted. A few risk family, friends, home, financial ruin, and their job to gamble. How do you know if you are a problem gambler? Do you lie about how much or how frequently you gamble? Once you start to gamble, can you stop before you have spent all the money you have? Do you risk money you know you shouldn’t spend, in hopes of winning big? You can be a compulsive gambler even if you do not gamble every day. The binge or periodic gambler – can still be out of control. Compulsive gambling seems to be a progressive condition and cannot be cured, only arrested. Once your gambling is under control, you cannot return to gambling.

There is help for compulsive gamblers. Gamblers Anonymous, based on Alcoholics Anonymous, is a 12-step self-help organization based on spiritual beliefs. Anyone can join and membership is strictly confidential.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy also works in treating compulsive gambling. This therapy uses a four-step program that helps the individual concentrate on a program that re-labels, reattributes, refocuses, and revalues their compulsions

No addiction happens in a vacuum. A compulsive gambler’s family is almost always harmed. Gam-anon offers support groups for gamblers’ partners. They help define the problem and help the person survive their partner’s addiction. Compulsive gambling is an emotional problem that endangers a gambler and his or her family. It can be treated, but like all addictions, the addict has to be willing to admit the addiction and follow through treatment.

People will gladly save up for years to be able to go play the casino games in Las Vegas and Reno. The truth is, they’re fun games to play and they’re entertaining. But, who can afford to make a long trip, pay for rooms and meals, and then have enough money with which to gamble? Why can’t you just play the games back at home?

There is a way to bring the casino into the house for a night of poker fun. It’s getting even more popular these days to have casino games at home with friends and family. Great food and fun for everyone can be had for very little money, compared to the trip.

Custom poker tables can be expensive but one has to consider that it’s furniture meant to be used forever. Even if the living room furniture changes, a good poker table will stand up to time and last longer. Plus, it will have the chip wells and all the markings of a game table, making it more fun.

Take the Casino Home

After getting a poker table, consider which games to play and what kind of decorations will be needed. Holiday lights indoors are good to imitate the bright lights of Las Vegas. You can set up an entire casino room in your own home and invite some guests over for some fun.

Make festive finger foods and choose upbeat music. Use a general theme so it’ll have a more polished appearance. Get cow bells for each person to ring every time they win a game and switch up seats often so opponents change every game. Get out several decks of cards and some dice.

Serve colorful drinks with fruit garnishes and straws. Paper coasters aren’t very expensive and neither are plastic reusable disposable cups. It should be a great time for all.

The advantages of online casino bonuses are worth mentioning as they can really help increase your income as you play at online casinos. Therefore, the best strategy you might want to consider is to sign up for a casino that offers a large casino bonus. With some matched bonuses ranging from 50 to 100 percent of your deposit, this is the time to search for a casino that can help you profit. A bonus might help you get the winning advantage on a casino. By using one that offers a large bonus scheme, you can see the money you deposit almost double in its amount.

Therefore, a bonus can be used to more effectively carry out a strategy as you will have more money to do so. This translates into being able to better understand the game as you will have a longer time to play as you now have more money to play with. However, do not think that you can just withdraw the casino bonus straight away. It must be used to play the casino games, but after using the bonus, any winnings can be withdrawn to your account. Therefore, you can really spend time getting to know a casino web site by first using the bonus. Therefore, if the online casino is not to your liking, you would not have lost out large sums of money. Using this strategy, you can wait to find a casino web site that is ideal for you, before you deposit a large bank roll.

In a effort to increase the amount of players at an online casino, quite a number of them have started offering online casino bonuses. These bonuses are used to encourage more people to come and play online at the casino. Many people think that there must be something wrong with these cash bonuses or that they are not actually free money.

However, just as other companies give out freebies, online casinos allow players to sign up and try them out by giving a bonus. This is a very advantageous marketing scheme by the Internet casino industry and it is a great way to try out a casino using bonus money given to you. Therefore, even though it might seem to good to be true, it is possible to make use of these bonuses and there are many advantages to doing so.

One of the first advantages to using casino bonuses is the ability to have more money to try out a casino. The most common way a bonus is given is as a match bonus. A match bonus is when you are required to deposit a certain minimum amount of money and then the casino will give you a bonus to match the amount you deposited. This bonus can be anything from 20 percent of the amount you deposit to as much as 100 percent of the amount you deposit. There will be certain rules that apply to your casino bonus, but usually you can use it to play almost any game that the online casino has.

There are various methods that you can use to find the best poker training possible. There are so many people that actually use poker as a full-time career. This is a great way for someone who understands the game to make money that is equivalent to working part-time.

What is your favorite sport to bet on? Football? Basketball? Darts? Regardless of what sport you are interested in and want to bet on, you can rest assured that there are sportsbooks for that sport. But there seems to be so many online sites where you can place your bet, that you are almost paralyzed with indecision. How do you know which sportsbook is for you and how do you know that you can trust it?

One of the best ways is to read sportsbook reviews. These reviews are readily available online. Make sure that you are reading reviews from reputable people. Some places pay for reviews. You know that if someone pays for a review that the review will be all positive and glowing and won’t give any negative comments. So, avoid any reviews that have been paid for by the sportsbook.

You can find good reviews in forums. This is where people who are avid users go to share their experiences and where newbies can ask questions and get information. This can be a treasure trove of information for someone who is just learning the ropes of sportsbooks.

Another way to find good sportsbooks, is to pay close attention to their options and policies. If they seem to offer the world to you in bonuses, back off and stay away from them. Places that offer spectacularly good bonuses are generally unstable sportsbooks and should be avoided.

Check out how quickly you will receive your money. Some places take two to three months to send out payments. Avoid these places if at all possible.

You can tell a good sportsbook by the quality of their customer service. Do they offer it 24/7? Do they have a live online chat? Do they have a telephone number where you can call someone and talk to them in person? You want to make sure that you can easily get answers to your questions.

People gamble because they want to win. They want to get rich quick. However, in reality, the chance of winning a lot of money is pretty slim. That’s because casinos and lotteries have probability in their favor.

The kind of chance that explains why casinos win is a kind of statistics categorized as independent versus dependent events.

Independent Events

Independent events are a kind of probability that means past events do not impact future events. For example, when you flip a coin, you have a 50 percent chance of getting heads and a 50 percent chance of getting tails. It doesn’t matter how many times you flip a coin, your chance of heads is always 50 percent. So, if you flip a coin three times and get heads each time, your chance of getting heads on the fourth try is still 50 percent. That is because the first three flips have no influence on the fourth flip.

This type of probability comes into play when people play the lottery. Always picking the same numbers doesn’t mean they will eventually come up because each lottery is independent of the preceding one. So, if you always pick 40, getting 41 doesn’t mean you are “close.” Getting 41 is no closer to 40 than is 5 or 85.

Dependent Events

Card games are dependent events if the discarded cards aren’t replaced in the deck. In this case, the probability of being dealt a certain card changes with each discard. For example, the chance of getting a king in a 52-card deck is 1/13. But if the first person is dealt a king, the likelihood of getting a king changes to 3/51. This kind of probability is significant in Poker, regardless of the type of Poker.

The best hand in all types of Poker is a royal flush – 10, jack, queen, king and ace in the same suit. A royal flush has the lowest probability of occurrence. In a five card hand, the probability of a royal flush in any suit is 1/649,740 but the probability for a specific suit is one fourth of that or 1/2,598,560.

Beating a casino isn’t likely but it isn’t completely impossible. Otherwise, why would people bother? It can help to have an idea of what your chances are when playing in a casino. It can help by helping you know when to walk away.

Black Jack is one of the most popular games in any casino. Odds are in favor of the house by three to five percent in a basic game but some strategies can help you improve your advantage. These include, always splitting eights and aces, standing on 17 to 21, never taking insurance, doubling down with 10 or 11 against a dealer with a face up card between two and nine, and standing with cards between totaling between 12 and 16 when the dealers face up card is between two and six.

Keno

For each dollar bet at Keno, the house keeps 30 percent. Playing Keno is a lot like the lottery; the result from each game is completely independent of the previous game.

Roulette

Roulette wheels are designed so that the house always has the advantage. Casinos get their edge because of the zero and double zero on the wheel. To improve your edge, try to find a wheel with just one zero on it.

Craps

To improve your odds when playing craps, avoid high odds bets. If you stick to line bets such as pass and don’t pass, the casino’s odds will only be better than yours by 1.4 percent.

Slot Machines

One-armed bandits are the easiest games to play in a casino. Since slot machines function using a random number generator, slot machines are never really due for a payoff. Wins are calculated over several thousand spins. The casino also keeps anywhere from three percent and 25 percent of each dollar spent.

Video Poker

Jacks or better machines that pay out six coins for a flush and nine coins for a full house have then best odds with the house only favored up to five percent. Video poker is better than slot machines in that you can end up ahead of the house by day’s end.

Online gambling is still a young and fairly untested industry. It isn’t yet clear which are the good and the bad casinos, so it is important to choose your casino carefully.

Gambling online offers two options, Java and software that is downloaded. While Java allows almost immediate play, downloadable software has better graphics and sound. Once you’ve installed the software or are accessing it online, you need to open an account with the casino and put money in it. While most people use a debit or credit card to do this, you can also use Western Union or a bank wire transfer, but these are often costly arrangements. It is important to note whether your credit card company views these transactions as cash advances which can also be costly.

Before you begin to play, double check the casino’s gaming rules: some follow European rules over US ones. It is also a good idea to document everything you do. When you are done playing, you can cash out or just leave your money with the casino. If you cash out and have a net gain, you original funds will be credited back to your credit or debit card while your winnings will probably be sent to you by check. Many casinos will deduct a finance charge.

Because the industry is still news, online casinos are working hard to get your business. Some will give new customers up to 50 percent of their initial deposit and even randomly deposit money in customer accounts. Some online casinos will give away vacations based on how much money you bet. The rules are often better than mortar and brick casinos and you don’t have to leave your home.

The downside of gambling online is that you have to wait until you actually get back your money after cashing out. Money reappearing on your credit card can take up to four weeks although using debit cards is much faster. Customer service can be hit-or-miss, unlike physical casinos. While some have great service, others take a while to respond to email and you can’t find their telephone number.

It seems that no matter where you go in America you are greeted with hundreds of Texas Hold’empoker games. There are handheld poker games, just for fun poker games and even poker games that players can play for real money. What is the history of poker and Texas Hold’em, what explains this incredible surge in popularity and what are some of the effects of the new popularity of poker?

Poker has a long history that dates back centuries. People have always gambled and bet on various games of chance, from dice games, shooting games to different card games. Poker became extremely popular in the days of settlers. People would often bond together over poker in games that spread as America developed from east to west.

On the Texas Hold’em aspect very little is really known about how and where the game was invented. Most poker experts credit a small town in Texas, known as Robstown, with coming up with the game in the early 1900s. Texas Hold’em officially found its way to Las Vegas in 1967 and didn’t really take off until 1980s with the World Series of Poker. However, it wasn’t until the early 2000s that Texas Hold ‘em really took off and started the nationwide craze that is so popular now.

Texas Hold’Em has really become popular mostly because of the hundreds of televised tournaments that are shown at all hours of the day. There are professional, amateur and even celebrity Hold’em tournaments. People watch these tournaments and instantly become fascinated with the concept and want to play on their own.

The Texas Hold ‘em craze has really sparked some great benefits for certain industries. Las Vegas tourism was starting to see a lack of visitors until the Hold ‘em craze came about. The craze also saw a spark in companies that started to manufacture and sell custom poker tables as everyone wanted to own a home version.

Dustin Hoffman was the perfect card counter in the movie “Rainman.” Hoffman plays an idiot-savant with a knack for winning in casinos. Media often makes it seem card counting is illegal with people on television quickly becoming persona non grata when a casino catches on. However, card counting is legal despite its unpopularity in the world’s casinos. But because casinos are private property, owners do have the right to kick you out.

Blackjack became the first card game publicly identified as one in which counting cards could be used to beat it. Casinos began seeing their profits drop and put in place measures to prevent it such as using multiple decks and shuffling often.

There are a number of ways to count cards, one of the easiest being a system called Hi-Lo. In this method, a player assigns a value to each card. Cards from two through five become +1; seven through nine are zero; tens, aces and face cards are -1. The player adds those values, the result being an indicator of the number of tens and aces left in the deck relative to smaller cards. If, after a hand, the total value is positive, the cards left in the deck run in your favor.

If there are multiple decks left in the shoe, a card counter need only divide his running count by the number of decks remaining. If you are playing a six-deck game and there are four decks remaining in the shoe, ending a hand with -4 becomes -1.

The card counter can use this information to know when to raise bets and when to lower them. With this edge the house advantage can turn into 1.5-percent odds in your favor.

The US Interior Department, which oversees tribal issues, shot down a proposal by a developer and the Stockbridge-Munsee Indians to build a casino near Monticello, New York.

The decision came as the federal government questioned whether or not a gambling agreement signed by the tribe, the state and a land settlement was legal under US law. In November 2011, then-Governor of New York David Patterson approved the Indian Casino as long as the tribe gave up its claim to land Madison County. Because of the federal decision, that agreement is now void.

President of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community Band of Mohicans Kimberly Vele sees the decision as a setback for the state and for the tribe. However, she says that she is committing to resolving the issues surrounding the land.

New York is also struggling with issues with the Seneca and St. Regis Mohawk Indians because of the tribes’ refusal to give New York more than $235 million in payments related to revenue sharing. Also, Governor Andrew Cuomo wants Indian retailers to pay excise taxes on cigarettes they sell to non-Indians, an estimated $200 million a year more funds for the state.

The Seneca Nation voted to end revenue-sharing payments from slot machines on its reservations because the state installed slot machines at Hamburg, Batavia and Finger Lakes racetracks, all in a region where the state granted Seneca exclusive rights. The St. Regis Mohawks did the same saying the state had done the same to thing to them.

The tribe has approximately 2,000 slot machines in a casino near the Canadian border. It says the state is ignoring slots operated by separate band of Mohawks in a bingo hall 90 miles from the reservation. The state argues that electronic slot machines are not the same as the slot machines referenced in the compacts.

Have you ever wondered whether you could walk away from a casino with a pocketful of cash? If you have, you are not alone. Many people are curious about gambling but perhaps aren’t sure about spending the money it would take to visit one of the U.S. locations where gambling is legal. Fortunately, online gambling may be an alternative option for you.

Virtual casinos have the ability to offer online casino games to U.S. citizens. These games work exactly like the ones in a traditional casino. You can try your hand at poker, join a game of roulette, or place a wager on a black jack game. If you prefer playing the slots, online casinos have those, too!

The entire setup of a virtual casino mimics what you would actually experience if you walked into a traditional gambling establishment. You’ll hear the same sounds, see the same lights, and get to experience the same wins or loses that you would if you went to a traditional casino. Gaming websites are so successful at mimicking what gamblers experience in traditional casinos that many people will join an online casino so they can enjoy their favorite games between visits to their preferred gambling hot spots.

As an added advantage, an online casino may offer an incentive to attract new players. This can be a good way to double your original investment or try your hand at a casino game you never thought about playing. To get started, set up an account with an online casino and transfer money to it. Then, use the funds available to play the virtual games. The online casino will track your wins and losses and debit or credit your account, as needed. If you win, you can request a payout from the casino, subject to the casino’s payout guidelines.

With online casinos, you can enjoy your favorite casino games without ever leaving home!

Not surprisingly, most New Jersey voters think sports betting should be legalized nationwide, according to a Fairleigh Dickinson University survey released in February 2011. At the same time people in New Jersey are against Internet gambling.

More than half of polled New Jersey residents are in favor of getting rid of the federal ban on sports betting and more than 60 percent would like to see sport betting in the casinos in Atlantic City and at horse-racing tracks.

A majority of New Jersey voters (67 percent) aren’t ready for Internet gambling. According to the poll director, people think the Internet as a barrier to participation is too low, much like having a liquor store next door.

On the ballot in November 2011, New Jersey voters will be asked whether or not they want to amend the state constitution and permit sports betting. Even if approved, there is still a federal ban on sports betting in most states which would need to be repealed before New Jersey could get it.

Democratic state senator Raymond Lesniak filed a lawsuit arguing the ban on sports betting should be lifted because it is unconstitutional. According to Lesniak’s argument, it treats all the states where it is banned differently than the four where it is legal. Nevada, Delaware, Montana and Oregon all had legal sports betting before the federal ban was enacted in 1992.

A bill permitting Internet gambling in New Jersey is waiting for Governor Chris Christie’s signature to make it law. The deadline for the governor’s response is March 3rd, by which time the governor can sign it, veto it or all it take effect without a signature. With this legislation in effect, casinos in Atlantic City casino can make Internet gambling available, but only to New Jersey residents.

“What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” isn’t necessarily true for a gambling addict. Gambling problems affect more than 15 million people in America, 20 percent of whose gambling problems are considered severe.

Problem gamblers, often known as addicts or pathological gamblers, frequently have problems with their relationships and responsibilities at home and work. These issues can lead to financial catastrophe and even doing things the gambler didn’t think possible such as stealing.

Gambling addiction is often thought of as a hidden illness because there are no obvious signs of a problem. Gamblers will frequently deny there is a problem and cover up their addiction. So, how do you know if someone you know or you yourself have a gambling problem?

Signs of a Gambling Problem

You or someone you know is secretive about gambling. If you lie about how much you gamble thinking others won’t understand or that you will surprise them when you win big.

You have trouble controlling your gambling. You feel compelled to keep gambling until you’ve spent all your money or you keep raising your bets trying to win back lost money.

You gamble when you don’t have the money. You gamble until you run out of money and move on to using money set aside to pay bills or buy things for your kids.

Your family and friends are concerned about you. If people are worried about you, take a good look at how gambling is impacting your life.

Getting Help

Gambling is an impulse-control disorder. Compulsive gamblers can’t stop themselves from gambling, even when they know they are hurting someone. People with gambling addictions need to get help. It’s important they understand that getting help isn’t a sign of weakness, it is actually a sign of strength.
